Our Mission
To improve the quality of life for people in the Central Okanagan area who struggle with serious and persistent mental health challenges by providing supportive housing and therapeutic work.
Okanagan Mental Health Services Society
The Okanagan Mental Health Services Society (OMHSS) is a not-for-profit organization in Kelowna, BC that understands the many challenges people with mental illness face.
Since 2001, we have been assisting our clients in finding and maintaining employment, and providing a place to call home that offers support, acceptance and comfort. We focus on developing and maintaining relationships based on caring and a deep understanding of our clients’ needs. Our programs are flexible and adapt frequently to the challenging needs of individuals requiring our assistance.
What We Offer
Supportive Housing Programs
OMHSS provides longer term subsidized housing for residents of Kelowna and the surrounding area. Within the 6 homes now operated by OMHSS, each resident has access to staffing to support them with appointments, outings, shopping, laundry, cooking, and life skills training.
Therapeutic Work Programs
– Room By Room (Janitorial)
– Yard By Yard (Lawn & Garden care)
OMHSS coordinates the placement of individuals with mental health challenges in work programs where they learn new skills. Supervised teams have a fantastic reputation for doing an amazing job in the Kelowna community. These contracts enable an individual to build up their resume, socialize with others, and manage their financial independence.

We’re Fundraising for Yard By Yard
This year our goal is to raise $20,000 for a “newer” work truck plus gardening equipment. Our new vehicle will allow us to employ up to 12 individuals part-time.
